Welcome to PWG “Chic Space for Z Generation”. It is a great pleasure to meet you at Design Shanghai 2021.  

If you visit Design Shanghai 2021 and come across PWG, it will probably be your most memorable experience at the design show.

What is PWG, after all? You might wonder before you step into its “paper tube castle”.

Standing outside the booth and looking into the windows that are open in four directions, you will find that the space is divided into four sections, which differ from one another in spatial layout but also resonate with one another. The unconventional, artistic design, the indefinite possibilities represented by the limited space and the extraordinary appearance attract a lot of attention to it and arouse strong interest in it. Visitors have streamed to the PWG’s booth, which has become one of the best places to visit at the design show.

PWG’s booth was designed by Cui Shu, an avant-garde Chinese designer. It is the third time that the artist has worked with PWG. On the basis of a thorough understanding of PWG’s needs, Cui and his team worked out a tailor-made solution that highlights PWG’s expertise in office furniture services and aligns with the company’s intention to create an office space for Z-generation CEOs and also a chic, cordial, personalized and distinctive space.

PWG has brought the most representative furniture works of industrial design to that 130-square-meter space. We wanted to use a simple, plain, sustainable, recyclable and eco-friendly material that would not affect the display of the exhibits to construct the space. Naturally, paper is the optimum choice and paper tubes are a perfect blend of fragility and solidity.

Thus, an independent architecture rather than an exhibition stand came into being. It was made of 7,200 paper tubes of 1 m in height and took three days to complete. It is composed of four independent and yet interconnected sections.

Each of the four sections has a window facing towards the outside in a different direction, from which visitors can take a look of the interior. Windows are also found here and there inside, which allow you to look into any other sections wherever you are. You can either follow the route we designed for you to visit the scenes one by one, or look through the external four windows and tour around the site.  

The exhibition booth is divided into four sections. The entrance is named “Welcome”. Sintered Stone is used as the conference table surface, which is ideal for many occasions such as a lunch meeting. It will be a representative product for non-defining space in the future. The decoration of the meeting room suits formal events such as meeting with a guest and shows respect and extends welcome to visitors.

The second section serves as the POP UP SHOP of ELEPHANT CAFÉ, which is under construction, at Design Shanghai 2021. Premium coffee, VITRA’s vintage works and 50 EAMES Elephants have drawn a lot of attention.

 The last section is “Lounge”, which is a personalized, cozy and private meeting place filled with lovely items such as the CASSINA PRO collection which bring together classic designs and enhanced comfort, animation drawings, and MOGG’s floor lamp.

As a global leader in workplace design and furniture solutions, PWG has worked with top international furniture brands such as Cassina Pro, Vitra and K+N to break free from the conventional office space design, keep abreast of new developments in office space solutions, and explore new ways to create “Chic Space For Z Generation”, as is shown in PWG’s exhibition booth with the works of more than 10 brands. 

The panel of judges, artists and designers voted to award PWG the 2021 DESIGN SHANGHAI PICKS, which is the only and the highest award for exhibition booth design and construction and is an acknowledgement and the greatest honor given to all participants of the exhibition.
