01 Brand profile

The well-known Spanish furniture brand Andreu World was founded by Francisco Andreu Marti in 1955, mainly designing and producing modern furniture such as tables and chairs. His never-ceasing attention to detail, pursuit of excellence and constant improvements to his high-end designs provides people with smarter and weller spaces of beauty to enjoy.

Over the course of 60 years, Andreu World has grown from a carpentry workshop to a renowned globally leading furniture company with advanced production facilities and unique innovative sustainable designs. Its products are sold and used in North America, Europe, and Asia, and are known worldwide. Its success lies in a combination of adherence to its production philosophy of sustainable development and innovation as well as high attention to product design and details. Shortening intervals between product updates have not changed Andreu World’s design spirit as expressed in is collection: a return to the purity of nature, with wood remaining the core material.

Compared with anything else, wood products are the most unique, warmest and noblest of them all. Woodworking itself is a philosophy and another way of connecting with the world. "All of our raw wood comes from our own sustainable forests, and we collaborate with world-famous designers and master carpenters.” In addition to its attention to the ways its technological innovations and production processes may impact the environment, Andreu World brings to its designs a deep understanding from more than 60 years of wood processing experience and fine workmanship, to continually improve its quality in terms of customer needs, while carefully crafting a global aesthetic as nature-centric International high-end furniture brand.

02 Brand Story

1955-1963, the foundational years of Andreu World.

In 1955, at age 17, founder Francisco Andreu Marti had the entrepreneurial vision to transform his family's small carpentry workshop into a company dedicated to component manufacturing, chair assembly and fine manufacturing. In those years, he began to sell his products to furniture stores, and gradually expanded production volume and the company’s scale.

The first batch of designs: Model 72 (1957)

As the company developed, the production and design style of its chairs kept improving. Model 72 from 1957 and Model 123 from 1963 followed the minimalist design style prevailing in Northern Europe in the 1950s. The Andreu Est factory (800 sqm) was set up, and a sales network was built up for these novel chairs.

The earliest trade shows (1963)

Andreu World began to participate in home-related trade shows, such as the International Trade Fair of Valencia and later the furniture trade shows of Cologne, Milan, and Chicago to show people its products and design culture, which is part of the company’s DNA.

To control the entire process from manufacturing to sales, the company had to purchase the basic raw material: wood. Thus a production forest was sought and found: a lush beech forest in Navarre, which later became the Andreu Nort plant supplying wood to the Valencia plant.

In 1980, the global design brand Andreu World was born.

Since then, industrial and graphic designers began to cooperate with Andreu World to develop and promote the brand. This was the true birth of the global brand Andreu World. Around this time, the company commissioned the award-winning designer Mario Ezkenazi to create an original logo. His design combines various symbols and won the Compasso d'Oro, one of Europe's most prestigious industrial design awards.

Between 1992 and 1999, Andreu World went global.

Two elements were essential to the internationalization of Andreu World: building a global sales network and cross-border operations. In the 1990s, its Karpatia sales team was established to build brand awareness and drive sales in northern and eastern Europe. As a result, the company began to emerge in foreign markets. In 1997a 2,000 sqm showroom opened in Valencia, which contains a gallery, meeting rooms, leisure areas and office areas, and its corporate headquarters is also located in the building.

Manila Chairs: The Value of Time (1999)

In the history of Andreu World, one of its most important designs was created by Lievore Altherr Molina: a timeless design that conveys serenity and grandeur. The Manila chairs and stools used in many types of spaces and environments never fail to give people a comfortable experience.
